  • Nov 16, 2023
  • 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM EST

Overview

In this ICAP training, we will discuss the collaborative nature of assessment and strategies for approaching assessment as a process which takes place over time, drawing upon a variety of sources of information. We will discuss the challenges and opportunities that exist with abandoning a “checklist” approach in favor of a more flexible and person-centered approach to developing career plans for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, mental health conditions, and other complex profiles. Additionally, we will explore the use of “step-up” goals in career goal decision-making.

The target audience for this training includes the ICAP Career Coaches, Leads from the community colleges, Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Counselors, and Branch Managers, VR Counselors from the Oregon Commission for the Blind (OCB), Tribal VR partners, and professionals from the Transition Technical Assistance Network (TTAN) and Youth Transition Program.
