From Theory to Practice: How Aspiring Teachers Can Support Autistic Students’ Self-Determination

Overview
Self-determination is a multifaceted construct encompassing a range of skills that enable individuals to become better bosses of their own lives and to more effectively advocate for themselves and make informed decisions in conversations about their futures. In the webinar, we will describe the Self-Determined Learning Model of Instruction, which is a model that is designed increase self-determination skills for students, and how it was used with by pre-service teachers with Autistic students in a pilot study.
