ICAP Mental Health Series Module 3: Working with ICAP Participants with Mental Health Conditions

Overview

This ICAP workshop will provide a general overview of the most common mental health conditions and related symptoms which might impact the engagement and employment of ICAP participants. We will explore how mental health symptoms can impact daily functioning and interaction with individuals and potential supports within the community that can help individuals maintain wellness while pursuing employment or postsecondary education.

Participants attending this training will learn to:

  • recognize symptoms associated with common mental health conditions which can impact engagement and employment;
  • explore the continuum of mental health and red flags that indicate someone is in mental health crisis;
  • identify community supports (both within the college and beyond) which can help promote wellness in individuals with mental health conditions;
  • identify wellness strategies to help promote employment for individuals with mental health conditions; and
  • identify support which can be put in place to help individuals return to work successfully after experiencing a mental health crisis.

The target audience for this training includes the ICAP Career Coaches.
